Friendship

Sometimes, I have to be amazed.  I'm amazed at how I'm able to keep the people I consider my friends to be my friends.  I'm kind of rude at times.  I have no filter.  I can upset an entire group of people with one phrase.  I'm pretty much my own worst enemy at times.  However I've realized something lately.  I have some really good friends.  I won't specifically name names to protect the innocent.  However I'll break them down.  Find yourself in one or more of these.

Spiritual Friends
You guys are my rock.  You guys help me through some of my toughest spiritual moments.  You say something that teaches me how to grow in the Lord.  I can't possibly go without your encouragement and strength. Some of you know exactly how to get me back on the right track.  The Bible says that man should sharpen each other  like iron sharpens iron.  Thank you for sharpening me and making me a better person.

Blunt Friends
I have those friends that will tell me exactly what I'm doing wrong.  You won't hesitate to tell me what I'm doing wrong.  Sometimes you tell me when I'm doing something I ought not do.  You also tell me not to say something stupid.  And sometimes you smack me when I don't listen.  Thanks for that.

Sports Friends
I know that's kind of weird, but I love people I can talk sports with.  I love having conversations about things I love.  It's hard to find people who know anything worthwhile about sports.  I usually get weird looks from people when I give them statistics that they didn't think existed.  Truth is, sometimes I just need to vent about how awful the BCS is.  That's where you all come in.  Thanks for being that person.

Work Friends
I love my co-workers.  They know what I'm feeling, thinking, and questioning at a moment's notice.  It's a blessing to be in a place where I can go somewhere and know I'm understood.  I've worked in places where I had no clue whether I was coming or going.  Where I work now, I'm blessed.  Thank you all for being there.

Past Friends
I love where I grew up.  Most of my fondest memories came from growing up in South Carolina.  I had wonderful friends who had my back when others didn't.  I had a great group of friends from back in the day that taught me so much about friendship and life.  Thank you for being in my life then, and also for being in my life now.

Friends are special.  I can probably count my best friends on one hand.  I have a ton of acquaintances, associates, and people I will say things to on a daily basis.  But friend is a word I take very seriously.  It takes a lot to be my friend.  It takes a ton to be one of my best friends.  I love you all.  You're all a blessing.
