Music Friday

I figured today would be a good day to just enjoy life and dance.  I remember when this song came out back in the day.  Everyone was just enjoying the song.  No one tried to find any hidden meaning.  There was no wishing death upon a rival rapper.  Just a bunch of people having fun.

What happened to those days?  What happened to dancing being an artform.  I see dancing nowadays and it's more like advertising than anything else.  Sometimes, it's worse than that.  People just on top of each other doing Lord knows what.  Sometimes I wonder if people know what song is playing.  They certainly aren't following any kind of rhythm.

I always pick on today's attempts at music, but it bears repeating.  These new people need to leave and let the old school do one more album.  Free us from the tyranny of techno, mumbo jumbo, auto tuned slop.  Give us real music that we can dance to.  Something that makes us sweat because we're actually moving to the rhythm instead of trying to discover a body part we have no business discovering in public.

Oh, that pretty model lady isn't singing the song; she's just lip syncing.  The real singer is Martha Wash aka one of the Weather Girls from It's Raining Men fame.  The group found her too unattractive to be in the video.  She got her revenge, don't worry.
